MLK Day honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and serves to encourage all to volunteer and serve others. Together we can strengthen our communities and move closer to Dr. King's vision of unity. The theme for the 35th anniversary of the Dr. King Holiday Breakfast is: ONE PEOPLE. As we look back and celebrate thirty-five years of coming together as a community to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we reaffirm our goal of inspiring and serving our Twin Cities community.

MLK Day honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and serves to encourage all to volunteer and serve others. Make a difference on this powerful day by joining other community members in volunteerism. Your involvement will contribute to meaningful change and promote the values of service and compassion. This event is free but with limited capacity.

Book Drive
Gift a book! Books are an essential tool for supporting growing brains. Sharing story time is a proven way to strengthen the parent-child bond, build literacy skills, and expose children to new cultures, people, and ideas. Books can be dropped off at collections bins at the MLK Holiday Breakfast or MLK Day Service Project. Direct shipment is available when you buy a book off Way to Grow's wishlist!

This event is free and open to the public. Volunteers can help build bookshelves for Bridging, assemble care packages for Ronald McDonald House, make doy toys out of old t-shirts, decorate rocks for kindness, create paper flowers to decorate a senior living center, write letters for the Letters of Love organization, make tie blankets for Neighbors, Inc. January 20th from 11:00 am to 1pm. No pre-registration or sign up is required. All are welcome!

Spend your MLK National Day of Service with IOCP helping strengthen our community by meeting basic needs and equipping individuals and families for ongoing stability.
Volunteers will help in the Resale Select store behind the scenes helping to sort through and find treasures we will put on our shelves. Volunteers will be on their feet for most of the shift so please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
