Galentine’s
Day 2024
Saturday, February 10 | 11:00 am-1:30 pm
The Market at Malcolm Yards - Blueprint Room
501 30th Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414
Let’s come together for some fun and celebration of friendship while helping reduce period poverty!
Participate in a volunteer project onsite, take photos with your besties or women empowerment group, and drop-off donations of pads, tampons, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash that will go to local nonprofit partners. Last year we collected over $22,000 worth of products for the community – help us increase that in 2024!
Can't make it but would still like to give to the cause and support the mission of HandsOn Twin Cities? Make a monetary donation or help share about the event using the hashtag #HOTCGalentines
Every person who menstruates knows the inconvenience of dealing with their monthly cycle. For individuals without shelter or who are low income, it’s more than just an “inconvenience.” Menstrual and hygiene products are expensive. The average person who menstruates spends $20 on hygiene products per cycle. Over a lifetime, that’s $9,000! People who cannot afford period products are forced to use alternative materials – socks, pieces of fabric, paper towels – which could lead to health issues. Others don’t have money to purchase or access necessary medication, like Tylenol, to deal with the side effects of menstruation.
It's not just an economic and health issue; it’s also about gender equality. Women who do not have access to menstrual products may skip school or work, continuing the gender gap in society and the workforce.
You can help! As Galentine's Day approaches, gather your household, your friends, and/or your co-workers, and participate in HandsOn Twin Cities' Menstrual Hygiene Drive by collecting items on the donation list or creating a Menstrual Hygiene Kit using our Galentine’s Guide.
On February 10, between 11 am and 1:30 pm, drop off donations at HandsOn Twin Cities’ 6th Annual Galentine’s Day at The Market at Malcolm Yards. Stay to learn about the nonprofit partners, take some fun photos, and participate in the on-site volunteer activity.
After you've made a BIG impact, the Market at Malcolm Yards features nine culinary concepts for you to feast and enjoy with your pals!
HandsOn Twin Cities is currently accepting event partners and in-kind donations for our Galentine’s swag bags. Contact Sheila Her to learn more about these opportunities.
